WFA COMPETITION SCORING SYSTEM
Launching in 2026, it measures competitive performance across the international WFA flair bartending circuit using a transparent, fixed-points system. Rankings reflect results over a rolling 52-week period and reward sustained performance at the sport’s most prestigious events.
Every final position in every WFA-sanctioned competition contributes to the World Ranking.
HOW THE WORLD TOUR IS STRUCTURED
GRAND SLAM
Grand Slams are the highest-prestige competitions on the WFA calendar and the primary drivers of the World Ranking. Performance at these events is decisive in determining the World Top 10 and World No.1.
Grand Slams award the highest ranking points of any event category.
WFA AFFILIATE EVENTS
Affiliate events support ranking progression, international exposure, and competitive development. They allow athletes to build depth across the tour, while remaining secondary to Grand Slams at the top of the standings.
Affiliate event levels are:
While affiliate events contribute meaningful ranking points, Grand Slams remain dominant in determining elite positions.

WFA UNCLASSIFIED EVENTS
Unclassified competitions do not contribute to the WFA World Ranking.
Only competitions that have been formally classified and approved by the WFA are eligible to award ranking points. Events listed as unclassified may still take place and athletes may participate in them, but the results from these competitions are not recognised for the purpose of calculating the official WFA World Ranking.
This ensures that all ranking points are awarded under consistent standards relating to event organisation, judging, safety, and competition structure.
CORE RANKING RULES
ROLLING 52-WEEK RANKING
When the same event is held the following year, points from the previous edition expire automatically.
POINT DEFENCE
Athletes must defend their points at the same event the following season.
- Better result: points increase
- Worse result: points decrease
- Did not compete: all points from that event are lost
This mechanism ensures continuous ranking movement and sustained competitive pressure throughout the season.
EVERY POSITION EARNS POINTS
All classified WFA-sanctioned competitions are treated as having 100 competitors.
Every final position from 1st to 100th earns fixed ranking points. There are no discretionary, variable, or subjective allocations.
This allows the ranking system to remain fully transparent, consistent, and automated.
POINTS WEIGHTING BY EVENT LEVEL
To keep Grand Slams decisive while rewarding participation across the tour, event categories are weighted as follows:
- WFA Grand Slam winner: 2000 points
- Level 1 (WFA Masters) winner: 500 points
- Level 2 (WFA Open) winner: 250 points
- Level 3 (WFA Challenger) winner: 120 points
Lower finishing positions scale proportionally within each category.
EXAMPLE OUTCOMES
EXAMPLE 1: FINISHING 10TH
Grand Slam: 1493 points
Masters (Level 1): 373 points
Open (Level 2): 187 points
Challenger (Level 3): 88 points
EXAMPLE B: FINISHING 50TH
Grand Slam: 407 points
Masters (Level 1): 102 points
Open (Level 2): 51 points
Challenger (Level 3): 22 points
NO FARMING OF SMALL EVENTS
The ranking system is designed to prevent point inflation through repeated participation in lower-tier competitions.
For example:
- One Grand Slam victory earns 2000 points
- Matching this total through Level 3 events would require approximately 17 Challenger wins
This ensures:
- Affiliate events remain valuable
- Grand Slams remain decisive
- The World No.1 must perform on the biggest stages
POINTS DEFENCE IN PRACTICE
Warsaw WFA Grand Slam 2026
A Flair Bartender wins the event and earns 2000 points.
Warsaw WFA Grand Slam 2027
The same Flair Bartender finishes 3rd and earns the corresponding 3rd-place Grand Slam points.
The difference between the two totals is deducted from the ranking.
This system creates real pressure at the top of the rankings and drives weekly movement throughout the season.
OFFICIAL RULES STATEMENT
All WFA-sanctioned events award fixed ranking points for every final position from 1st to 100th.
No variable or discretionary ranking points are permitted under any circumstances.
