The latest Roadhouse heat to take place at the end of June was the next instalment in the ever-popular World Open. The Roadhouse World Open events are a big favourite for many of the competing bartenders as score and competition-wise, they are very close to the set up for the Roadhouse Grand Finals in November – the WFA Grand Slam everyone wants to win. As is generally the way with the World Open events, we had bartenders flying in from all over the globe to take part, including Japan, Poland, Uruguay, and Spain.
Last month we saw the uniquely amazing Bottle Tin is King Roadhouse Heat, with bartender @rikybin taking the top spot and securing a place in the Grand Finals to take place later in the year. The Top 3 from every Roadhouse Heat are granted a place in the Roadhouse World Finals in a format that is unique to this competition – unless of course, they have already qualified in which case the next highest yet to qualify bartender gets the spot.
With the likes of previous WFA Grand Slam and Roadhouse Champion Marek Posluszny taking part, as well as previous Roadhouse Heat winners Michael Moreni and Sikky, this was always set to be a competitive event. Let’s find out what happened…
The Result
It turned out that the man to post the highest score in the qualifying rounds was also the man that would go on to win it – Marek Posluszny (@marasboston). Many of the Roadhouse Heats have been very closely fought competitions with sometimes only a few decimal places separating the winner from the runners up. That wasn’t the case this time around with Marek bringing all his skill and experience to the fore, securing him a vital spot in the Roadhouse Grand Finals, another Roadhouse Heats trophy, and £850 in prize money. Second place went to Edgar Suvarian (@edgarsuvarian) who showed up with a very impressive routine; with third place going to Sikky (@marianchmel).
With Marian already qualifying for the Grand Finals that means that alongside Marek and Edgar, Tony Mallin has also secured his place in the Roadhouse Grand Finals. Congratulations to all the bartenders who took part in what was another great Roadhouse Heat!
What is next?
The next Roadhouse Heat will be the cool and totally different Tandem competition. This is one heat you do not want to miss. As you can imagine from the name, in the Tandem competition two bartenders compete as part of a team. The winner and runners up will secure a place to compete in the Tandem Grand Final, which is a separate part of the Roadhouse Grand Finals – as well as the chance at winning the £850 prize money. Expect some old and new faces at what is expected to be a very popular competition. It will be live-streamed as always – stay up to date with the WFA social media to find the links and more…
