Result: The Roadhouse Battle Comp, April 2019

And so the Roadhouse Battle Comp is over for another year and once again, it did not fail to impress. The battle pit was formed, the eager audience gathered round and the one-on-one flair bartending battles begun. Battle comp veteran flair bartenders Jumbles St Pierre and Florian Beuren sat on the judging panel for what is one of the most unique Roadhouse Flair competitions of the year. There is no scoring system, no drinks need to be made, it is all about how you can counter your opponents moves and get the crowd going.

The action was fast and furious with each bartender having three lots of 30 second slots in the qualifying rounds and four lots of 30 second slots in the finals. The lineup of flair bartenders saw the likes of Battle Comp 2018 Champion and WFA Purple Grade Flavius Lupu (@flaviuslupu), WFA Black Grade Oliver Deak (@oliverdeak), and former Roadhouse 2019 heat winner Michael Moreni (@michaelflaironepiece). Who took home the prize money, a place in the Roadhouse World Finals in November and a coveted Roadhouse Glass Globe trophy?

Let’s find out…

The Result

The Battle Comp is different to the other Roadhouse Heats in that the winner takes all. Every penny of the £1000 prize fund goes to the best battler. There is also no Top 6, which means it comes down to the two bartenders who battle it out for first place in the Final. Those two bartenders were Marian ‘Sikky’ Chmel (@marianchmel) and Maxi Diole (@maxidiole) – but the bartender who came out on top this time around, was Sikky.

A huge congrats to Sikky on becoming this year’s Roadhouse Battle Champion. It also turned out to be a great result for Maxi too, as Sikky has already qualified for the Roadhouse Grand Finals in November, Maxi gains a spot for the first time in his career.

What is next?

Next up is the Roadhouse May Heat, which this year is Bottle Tin is King. Another unique format, Bottle Tin is King is for the flair bartending purists. Bartenders are limited to only 2 objects throughout their entire routine, so it’s all about originality and the performance or show they put on.
